Residents at Tall Trees took part in a commemorative tree planting ceremony on Saturday 16th July which had seniors putting their green thumbs on display and helping to shape the environment of their community.
The event was at the Tall Trees community at Tanah Merah, and saw residents creating a new, dedicated greenspace within the neighbourhood.
Tall Trees prepared 30 Fairhill Gold and Prima Donna trees for planting, which are natives that have a long history on the east coast of Australia.
Every resident received an individual plaque set at the base of the tree that they help to plant, and all relatives that attended received their own seedling to take home.
Tall Trees director Phil Usher says the inaugural event helped to highlight the importance of seniors in our community.
“We are always on the lookout for new ways to draw attention to the achievements our residents have made, and we feel this is a highly symbolic way of doing that,” Mr Usher says.
“Our residents have all had positive impacts on the communities that they’ve lived in, and with the tree planting they will be continuing that by having a positive effect on our local environment.
“This initiative was not just about beautifying the grounds of our neighbourhood—it was about honouring the people that have been the pillars of our community.
“It’s was a great event for both our residents and their families.”
