Call for more dementia research in aged care

A leading UK neuroscientist has joined calls for the Australian Government to spend more on dementia research.

Our nurses at our Tall Trees aged care neighbourhoods between Queensland and northern New South Wales know just how difficult it is for people to witness a family member suffer from dementia.

Thousands of families and carers receive invaluable support from the Dementia Initiative in this situation, however with the government going backwards when it comes to funding dementia research, families will have to cope with the situation on their own.

Our nurses on Brisbane and the Gold Coast provide care for many patients with dementia, and know how big of an impact the disease has on surrounding friends and family.

Australian aged care will see an influx of more and more dementia patients in the upcoming years if additional funding for research is not provided and this is a major concern.
